Music, soul and emotion.
These are the words that would best describe Shayne Holland, both as an artist, and as a person.

Born in New England in the late seventies, Shayne's musical influences ranged widely from classical, to blues, to contemporary pop. Whether it was Ella Fitzgerald, Maria Callas, or Squeeze, Shayne absorbed all of the sounds that permeated the Holland household. Trying to emulate his musical idols, Shayne climbed onto his family's worn piano bench at age four, and hasn't stopped playing and learning since.

A self-taught pianist, Shayne evolved into singing and songwriting when he reached his late teens and by college had formed and performed in several locally recognized bands. After a few years of performing and recording, Shayne decided to take his music in a different direction and strike out on his own. Withdrawing from live performances, the young artist embarked upon a one year writing crusade which produced a catalog of over two hundred songs. These were refined, filtered, and finally recorded into the 4 song e.p. Rain, and now the full length Unconditional.

Based in Boston, Shayne assembled some of the best musicians in the industry to record this array of catchy, earnest songs: Milt Reder, who both co-produced Rain and Unconditional at his Rear Window Recording studio also played guitars on the CD. Milt has received airplay on HBO and Showtime movies and has been a session player for Bo Diddley, Susan Tedeschi, Robin Lane, and more. Drummer Dave Mattacks' recording and session work includes such legends as Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Jimmy Page, Elton John, and Brian Eno. Meanwhile, bassist Brad Hallen's background includes recording/session work with Aimee Mann, Susan Tedeschi, Ministry, and "Monster" Mike Welch, just to name a few.

Residing just outside of the metropolitan Boston area, Shayne has continued writing at what can only be called a feverish pace, and has already written and recorded Unconditional's follow up CD, which has yet to be titled. Averaging 10 - 15 new songs a week, Shayne has a catalog of literally over 400 songs and has shown no signs of easing up. Reaching musical depths that touch the intermost places of one's spirit, Shayne's music paints an array of landscapes that reside in the human heart.

Shayne Holland will spend much of 2004 and 2005 performing throughout New England, New York and Los Angeles in support of Unconditional, in hopes of procurring major label interest. Look for show dates in your local paper, or check back here for dates. Both Unconditional, and Rain, can be purchased at CDBaby.com.
