A reflection of emotions; the truth, the soul translated into music that easily finds its way into affecting others. Shayne Holland is the man behind the music that does just that. Taking his experiences and feelings, he has created fresh, upbeat, introspective pop music that is mainstream but far from predictable. Weaving warm rhythms with bright tempos, Shayne creates a sound that crosses adult contemporary with modern pop - "categories" aside, Shayne simply writes music with lyrics that certainly connects with everyone and sticks in your head at the same time.
Shayne Holland's debut solo recording is entitled Rain - a four-song preview to his upcoming full-length. Based in Boston, Shayne assembled some of the best musicians in the industry to record this array of catchy, earnest songs: Milt Reder, who both co-produced Rain at his Rear Window Recording studio also played guitars on the CD. Milt has been a member of the bands Barrence Whitfield and The Savages and Four Piece Suit - through which he has received airplay on HBO and Showtime movies and has been a session player for Bo Diddley, Susan Tedeschi, Robin Lane, and more. Drummer Dave Mattacks' recording and session work includes such legends as Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Jimmy Page, and Elton John, as well as XTC, Brian Eno, and Jethro Tull. Meanwhile, bassist Brad Hallen's background includes recording/session work with Aimee Mann, Susan Tedeschi, Ministry, and "Monster" Mike Welch, to name a few. Combined with Shayne's unique vocals and impassioned performance, Rain presents four memorable songs - the layered, hopeful "Rain," the jangly "Struck By You," the acoustic-y "I Feel Light", and the dynamic, radio-friendly "Turn Off The World."
Though this is Shayne's first solo effort, he is no stranger to the music world itself. A self-taught pianist, he evolved into singing and songwriting when he reached his late teens and by college had performed in and formed bands. After performing and recording with one of the bands, Shayne decided to take his music in a different direction and strike out on his own. Thus in early 2001, Shayne began recording what became Rain.
Shayne Holland is currently performing throughout New England in support of Rain and is working on songs for his upcoming full-length CD to be released in 2002.
